Barnala - More than three dozen public organizations of Punjab held a meeting today on the invitation of Jamahur Adhikar Sabha and Tarkashil Society Punjab in the local Tarkashil Bhawan. That copies of criminal laws will be burnt on July 1 at all district/tehsil levels across Punjab against the UAPA movement to implicate Arundhati Roy and Shaukat Hussain in a baseless case.
It was also decided in today's meeting that a state level convention and demonstration will be held on July 21 at Desh Bhagat Memorial Hall, Jalandhar to reverse the efforts to implicate Arundhati Roy and Shaukat Hussain in a false case. Releasing the proceedings of the meeting to the press, Prof Jagmohan Singh and Rajinder Bhadour said that emergency was declared on 26 June 1975. But since 2014, the alternating cycle of undeclared emergencies has become increasingly acute, exemplified by the three new criminal laws and labor codes coming into force on July 1 that supersede the Rowlatt Act.
The representatives of more than three dozen organizations presented their views in this meeting and said that the BJP government is using writers, intellectuals, literary people, poets, color workers, rationalists and people from the democratic sector to pave their way to launch an economic and communal fascist attack on the people. By bringing the scholars under its selective attack, the sensitive sections who are the voice of the people are being separated from the public caravan and are pulling the ropes to silence the Sikhs. The meeting has invited that all the people should immediately stand on the back of these intellectuals instead of beating them to death, do a massive mass mobilization to turn the black law into their pockets, otherwise the BJP government will bring them all under its sway one after another.
