
Inspector of anti-narcotics task force caught taking bribe of one lakh rupees
Patiala, October 29 - In the ongoing anti-corruption drive in the state, Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Punjab Police Inspector Gurinder Singh, Incharge Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) District Patiala red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 1,00,000.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the said policeman has been arrested on the basis of a complaint by Puja resident village Rohti Pul, Tehsil Nabha, District Patiala. The spokesperson further said that the complainant has approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the accused Inspector was threatening to implicate her father in a false NDPS case if she did not pay a bribe of Rs 3 lakh. But the deal was settled for Rs 1.50 lakh.
The accused police had taken Rs 50 thousand as the first installment of the bribe on Sunday. After preliminary investigation of the complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and caught the said policeman red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Anti-Corruption Act at the Patiala Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau. According to the spokesperson, further action will be taken after presenting the accused in court tomorrow.
