Patiala, February 27- Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav and SSP Dr. Nanak Singh today made a surprise visit to Red Cross De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre Saket Hospital and Model Town Oat Clinic. On this occasion, they interacted with the persons undergoing training in dairy farming at Saket Hospital and got feedback about the vocational courses.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the persons undergoing treatment in the rehabilitation centres are being given training in vocational courses for their rehabilitation. He said that in the coming time, along with dairy farming, other vocational courses like fish farming, electrician, beekeeping, plumbing will also be conducted.
He informed that the patients undergoing treatment in the de-addiction centres of Patiala district are being registered in the Employment and Business Bureau so that they can be provided better opportunities for employment and self-employment and they can become self-reliant and join the mainstream of the society.
Dr. Preeti Yadav said that Saket Hospital has Sahayata Helpline number 0175-2213385 which is a good platform for people who want to improve their mental health including those who have quit drugs, as the identity of such persons is kept confidential and they are treated by giving them better advice.
Saket Hospital Project Director Parminder Kaur Manchanda said that patients admitted in Saket Hospital are treated free of cost and facilities like painting room, gym, puja room are also available for the patients. She said that the hospital provides continuous tele-counselling (through phone) to the people who have quit drugs so that they do not fall on the wrong path again.
After this, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav and SSP Dr. Nanak Singh visited Model Town Oat Clinic and obtained information about the patients taking medicine from the staff.
