Garhshankar, July 15- All the officials of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Football Club Garhshankar expressed deep condolences on the death of senior runner Fauja Singh (114) in a road accident on Amritsar-Jalandhar highway yesterday and paid tribute to the departed soul.

On this occasion, the club officials also expressed deep condolences on the tragic death of Liverpool Football Club's famous player Dioga Jota and his brother football player Andre Silva in a road accident recently and described their death as a big loss to the football world.
He said that Punjab's Sikh runner Fauja Singh not only brought glory to the Sikh community but also to the entire country all over the world and as a senior runner, he made many world records in various countries. He said that even at the age of 114, he had the zeal of a sportsman, which will remain a source of inspiration for the coming generations of Punjab.
He said that his death in a road accident after living such a long life is a big blow to the sports history of the country. On this occasion, the club officials raised the slogan "Following traffic rules saves everyone's life" and demanded from the administration that strict steps should be taken to enforce traffic rules.
He said that in Punjab too, lives are being lost unnecessarily in accidents happening on the roads every day and the government should make strict laws in this regard. He said that citizens should also fully cooperate with the administration in following these rules.
