SAS Nagar, September 8 - Mohali Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has said that if large-scale steps are not taken immediately to improve the poor condition of the city's infrastructure, then Mohali's infrastructure will completely collapse and the residents of the city will have to face immense difficulties.
In this regard, he has written a letter to the Chief Administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) demanding that GMADA immediately release a grant of Rs 10 crore to the Municipal Corporation. He has written that these funds must be spent on war footing for road repair, replacement of sewer lines and water drainage. He has written that if immediate financial assistance is not received, the situation will become more uncontrollable.
Mr. Bedi has written that the heavy rains in the past few days have turned the main roads of Mohali into large potholes. Dangerous potholes have formed on almost every road. This has not only affected traffic but has also posed a threat to the lives and property of the people.
He said that not only the roads, but also the sewerage and drainage systems have completely collapsed at many places. Due to the stoppage of water drainage, water is accumulating on a large scale, which has increased the risk of diseases and is greatly affecting the daily life of the people.
In his letter, Mr. Bedi mentioned the problem of traffic jam on the Airport Road and wrote that at present it takes more than an hour for people to reach the airport from the Punjab side, which is due to inefficient traffic lights and inefficient traffic.
He suggested that if flyovers or underpasses are built at important intersections, the problem of jam can be solved to a large extent. This will not only save people's time and money, but will also enhance the image of Mohali as a modern and planned city.
He has demanded from the GMADA chief that these issues be resolved on priority basis and immediate relief be provided to the people.
