Nawanshahr- Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that the situation on the dam of the Sutlej river in the district is under control, due to which people do not need to panic and should be alert about rumors. Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that the collapse of the dam at Talwandi Shibu was prevented from progressing further with the cooperation of the people in time and since last night, the Indian Army team is continuously working to strengthen the dam.
He said that the dam and water flow are being continuously monitored by the administrative officials at Bela Tajowal, Tajowal Mandala, Dhangarpur, Pandarawal and Burj Tehaldas. He said that a large number of villagers are engaged in the work of strengthening the dams, which is commendable.
Regarding the increasing and decreasing water level in the Sutlej River, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that in view of the water level, appropriate arrangements are being made from all sides so that any situation can be dealt with easily. He appealed to the people to be wary of rumors and said that they should be aware of the information being given by the district administration from time to time.
He said that the district administration has deployed teams led by senior officers at all places, who are continuously assessing the situation. He said that if there is any information about the water level, condition of the dam, etc., then people can give it to the control room set up by the district administration so that necessary steps can be taken in time. It is worth mentioning that the district administration has set up a district-level control room at the local district administrative complex, which is functional 24X7.
