
Awareness about free legal aid, Lok Adalats and mediation facilities through a tableau presented by the District Legal Services Authority on the occasion of Independence Day.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 16 August 2025: Information about the free legal aid scheme implemented by the government under Article 39-A of the Constitution to protect the rights of the poor and weaker sections of the society was shared through a tableau presented by the District Legal Services Authority, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar during a district level program at Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Mohali on the occasion of Independence Day.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 16 August 2025: Information about the free legal aid scheme implemented by the government under Article 39-A of the Constitution to protect the rights of the poor and weaker sections of the society was shared through a tableau presented by the District Legal Services Authority, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar during a district level program at Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Mohali on the occasion of Independence Day.
Through a tableau brought out on the initiative of District and Sessions Judge, Shri Atul Kasana, awareness was created about the provision of services of lawyers to the citizens of the poor and weaker sections at the expense of the government to protect their legal rights under this scheme. It was informed that the council fee and other expenses incurred in the case are paid by the government through the District Legal Services Authority as per the rules to the concerned advocate.
Apart from this, the disputes of the parties are resolved smoothly and quickly through the Lok Adalat and mediation system on the basis of their mutual consent. This not only saves time and money, but also creates mutual cooperation and trust among the people.
The District Legal Services Authority, through its tableau, also highlighted that various public welfare schemes being run by DLSA, such as free legal aid, Lok Adalat, mediation and other public welfare schemes, are being implemented effectively keeping in mind the interests of the citizens.
It was also informed that the next National Lok Adalat will be held on 13 September 2025, in which various types of cases will be resolved through mutual consent of the parties concerned.
On this occasion, Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, CJM Mrs. Surabhi Prashar was also present. She said, “The main objective of District Legal Services Authority is to provide easy access to justice to every section of citizens. With the process of Lok Adalats and mediation, the cases of the parties can be settled expeditiously through consensus, which makes the justice system more effective.”
