173.53 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured from Punjab markets – Harchand Singh Burst

SAS Nagar (Mohali) 9 December, 2024- Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Sardar Harchand Singh Burst said that during the monsoon season of 2024-25, paddy procurement was done smoothly in the group mandis of Punjab state.

SAS Nagar (Mohali) 9 December, 2024- Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Sardar Harchand Singh Burst said that during the monsoon season of 2024-25, paddy procurement was done smoothly in the group mandis of Punjab state.
The facilities of farmers, cultivators, laborers and traders were taken care of and the problems faced by them were resolved promptly. He said that this time 173.53 lakh metric tonnes of paddy crop has been purchased by government agencies and traders from the mandis of the state.
He informed that 71,28,472 metric tonnes were purchased from Pangrain, 1,47,397 metric tonnes from FCI, 44,12,245 metric tonnes from Markfed, 36,59,472 metric tonnes from Punsup, 19,64,134 metric tonnes from warehouses and 41,216 metric tonnes from traders. He said that 16,49,151 metric tonnes of paddy was procured in Ludhiana, 13,61,468 metric tonnes in Bathinda and 13,34,613 metric tonnes in Sangrur.
Sardar Burst said that before the procurement process started in the Mandis of Punjab State, adequate arrangements were made by the Punjab Government and Punjab Mandi Board, under which clean drinking water, electric lights, sanitation, bathrooms, shade and mandi were provided. A control room was also set up at the head office of the Board, so that the farmers could sell their produce without any hassle. Apart from this, the Punjab Mandi Board constituted teams of officers to check the procurement operations in the Mandis.
No trouble was allowed to the farmers, labourers, traders who brought the crop to the Mandis. The Chairman of the Punjab Mandi Board appreciated all the officers and employees for performing their duty with honesty and diligence to run the paddy procurement operations smoothly during the season.
