Derabassi/Zirakpur, October 27:- The project to construct a causeway from Bakarpur via Isapur and Satabgarh has moved forward to address the increasingly serious traffic congestion in Zirakpur. The project cost has been fixed at ₹1.52 crore, and the tender has been issued.

Local MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa had raised the issue in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, stating that the daily movement of thousands of vehicles in Zirakpur causes considerable inconvenience to residents and commuters. He said that constructing the Bakarpur–Isapur–Satabgarh causeway would be an important alternative to ease the growing traffic pressure and provide relief to the public.

MLA Randhawa had sought information from the minister in the Assembly regarding the current status of the project and the government’s plan to initiate it. In response, the minister stated that the construction cost had been fixed at ₹1.52 crore and the tender had been issued. The project is targeted for completion by March 31, 2027.

The causeway is expected to improve traffic movement in Bakarpur, Isapur, Satabgarh and surrounding areas and help reduce congestion in Zirakpur.
