Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 21: World Fisheries Day was celebrated with pomp and show in collaboration with Atma Scheme on November 21 in village Hamayupur, Tehsil Derabassi. During this event, the message given by the Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, S. Gurmeet Singh Khudiya was conveyed to the fish farming farmers.
This event was organized as per the guidelines given by the Director and Warden, Fisheries Department, Punjab. The main objective of this event was to spread awareness among the farmers about modern fish farming techniques and to make them aware of various beneficial schemes/plans being run by the department.
During the camp, Mrs. Hardeep Kaur, Assistant Director, Fisheries Department and Mrs. Jagdeep Kaur, Fisheries Officer gave detailed information about the facilities being provided under the schemes of the Fisheries Department - such as subsidy, technical information, training and financial assistance.
More than 50 fish farmers participated in this event. Village Sarpanch Mr. Dalbir Singh, Panch Mr. Binder Singh and other colleagues also participated in the event. The farmers appreciated the camp and showed keen interest in the information provided by the department. The camp concluded with an interactive session, in which the farmers shared their experiences and received valuable advice from the Fisheries Department team.
