Kolkata:- Just ahead of the proposed assembly elections in West Bengal next year, the Election Commission has made public the names of voters removed from the draft electoral list under SIR 2026 of the electoral rolls. The commission uploaded the list on its official website on Tuesday morning, a few hours before the draft list was released.
This list includes the names of voters who were included in the 2025 electoral list, but have been removed from the 2026 draft list. The commission has clarified that this step is part of the process of updating and making the electoral list error-free. The list of removed voters has been made available on the commission's portal ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/asdsir.
According to sources in the Commission, the number of ‘uncollectable SIR Enumeration Forms’ has crossed 58 lakh. In these cases, either the voters were not found at their registered address, had permanently shifted, had died or were found to be registered as duplicate voters in more than one assembly constituency. The Election Commission has also clarified that the opportunity to file claims and objections will remain open for voters who have objections to their names being removed from the list.
According to the Commission’s website, from 16/12/2025 to 15/01/2026, the affected persons can submit their claims with Form 6, declaration form and necessary supporting documents. The Commission says that this entire process is being done with the objective of making the electoral system fair, transparent and building trust.
