Hoshiarpur: In a major success against the Pakistan-backed ISI terrorist network ahead of Republic Day, Hoshiarpur Police, in a joint operation with Counter Intelligence (CI), Jalandhar, have busted a terrorist module linked to the banned organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). During the operation, four operatives of the module were arrested, and an RDX-based Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing approximately 2.5 kg was recovered from their possession. This information was given here today by the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Diljot Singh, Harman Singh alias Harry alias Hari, Ajay alias Mahira, and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandola, all residents of the Rahon area of ??SBS Nagar district. Besides the RDX-based IED, police teams also recovered two pistols from their possession.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that this terrorist module was being operated by US-based BKI handlers. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the recovered IED was to be used to carry out a well-planned terrorist attack keeping in mind the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
He said that a detailed investigation is underway to establish further links in this case.
Sharing details of the operation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hoshiarpur, Sandeep Malik, said that based on intelligence inputs, Hoshiarpur Police and CI Jalandhar teams conducted a joint operation and arrested four suspects, recovering an RDX-based IED and two pistols from their possession.
The SSP further said that investigations have also revealed that foreign-based BKI handlers had established a terrorist module, which was tasked with receiving weapons smuggled through the border areas of Amritsar rural area and managing the logistics. Further investigation is underway in this case.
In this regard, FIR No. 11, dated 23/01/2026, has been registered at Garhshankar Police Station, Hoshiarpur, under Sections 113(1) and 113(3) of the BNS, Sections 25 and 25(1B)(a) of the Arms Act, and Sections 4 and 5 of the Indian Explosives Act.
