Ambala, October 17 (R. Singh):- To effectively control crime and strengthen law and order in Ambala district, the Ambala Police have intensified a special drive against vehicles without number plates and those lacking High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP). Providing this information, DSP Jagbir Singh told the media that criminals often use such vehicles to commit offences because they are difficult for investigating agencies to track. Keeping this security threat in view, the police administration has adopted a strict approach.

DSP Ambala Jagbir Singh said strict action was being taken against traffic rule violators. During special checking drives conducted from January 1, 2026, to October 15, 2026, the police issued challans to a total of 9,906 vehicles for violations involving missing number plates. In addition, within just 15 days, 1,498 vehicles were challaned for not having HSRP. He said that, taking note of a special report submitted by the Ambala SP regarding action against violators, the District Magistrate, Ambala, had issued strict orders prohibiting petrol pump owners and employees anywhere in the district from dispensing fuel (petrol or diesel) into any vehicle without a number plate. If any petrol pump operator or employee is found violating these orders, strict legal action will be taken against them under the relevant provisions of law.
