Patiala- After the Mahabharata war, Gandhari, the mother of the Kauravas, expressed her displeasure to Lord Krishna. She asked, "Govind, you are the embodiment of God and possess infinite power. If you had wished, you could have prevented the Mahabharata war, saving my 100 sons, millions of soldiers, preventing children from becoming orphans, parents from becoming helpless, and saving countless families from ruin."
Lord Krishna joined his hands and replied, "Mother, when kings, princes, ministers, leaders, and officials begin to adopt destructive means to satisfy their desires, comforts, greed, and arrogance, and begin to commit atrocities and violence against citizens, then the curses of the victims, the elderly, children, and the helpless give birth to destruction."
He explained that wars and conflicts originate from greed, injustice, and the lack of moral guidance. While Guru Dronacharya tried to teach both the Pandavas and Kauravas, the Kauravas lacked proper guidance at home. Their mother turned a blind eye, and Shakuni polluted their minds with greed, selfishness, and malice. In contrast, the Pandavas were constantly guided by Kunti, who instilled values of patience, humility, duty, and respect.
Lord Krishna emphasized that when children are given excess comfort and freedom without discipline, or when their mistakes are overlooked by parents, they grow up with corrupted characters. When those in power are not held accountable, their thirst for power leads to looting and violence. If the Kauravas had not been stopped through the war, they would have caused even greater destruction in the future.
He concluded by stating that the responsibility for a secure, healthy, and prosperous future for children lies primarily with mothers and the elders of the family. The rise or fall of a lineage depends on the values, discipline, integrity, and humility instilled in children from a young age. Future is built upon the foundation of ??????? (values), responsibilities, and righteous conduct.
