Una, June 9: The Una district administration is ensuring all necessary preparations to effectively tackle potential natural disasters in view of the Southwest Monsoon 2026. The disaster management mechanism is being strengthened by enhancing inter-departmental coordination and training Civil Defence volunteers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar shared this information on Tuesday. He participated in a video conference held from Shimla, chaired by Chief Secretary KK Pant, to review preparations for the upcoming monsoon.
Following the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner stated that necessary guidelines have been issued to all concerned departments regarding disaster management preparations for the monsoon season. Officials have been instructed to work in coordination, keep early warning systems active, and ensure the rapid exchange of information. All departments have been directed to maintain utmost vigilance and readiness, prioritizing the safety of life and property during the monsoon.
He mentioned that concerned departments have been instructed to ensure the regular cleaning of rivers and drains, remove obstructions from areas prone to waterlogging, exercise special caution in landslide-prone zones, and maintain cleanliness around bridges and culverts. Additionally, instructions have been issued to ensure the availability of necessary resources for swift relief and rescue operations during emergencies.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner informed that a review meeting with officials from concerned departments will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at Bachat Bhawan, Una, to discuss preparations and strategies for handling potential emergencies during the 2026 monsoon season. The meeting will include a detailed review of advance arrangements made by various departments, resource availability, and preparedness for rapid response in the event of a disaster.
