Patiala, July 31:- On the occasion of the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh Ji, a special program was organized at Soni Public School to make the students aware of patriotism, social responsibilities and moral values.
On this occasion, the school's Principal Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur while addressing the students said that the real tribute to the martyrs is not just by offering flowers, but by becoming like flowers and fruits and spreading the spirit of happiness, love and service in the society. She explained the importance of the country, society, family and parents to the students and inspired them to contribute towards their safety, respect, prosperity and progress.
Appealing to draw inspiration from the lives of Gurus, great incarnations and patriots, he said that only those people succeed in life who are taught good morals, discipline, humility, tolerance and duty from their parents, teachers, gurus and scholars from childhood.
On this occasion, retired Training Officer of Indian Red Cross Shri Kaka Ram Verma said that today's children and youth are being drawn towards fashion, show-off, drugs and crimes by considering actors, singers and dancers as their ideals. He said that the main reason for this is that children do not get proper information about life, family, society, environment and the lives of great revolutionaries.
He said that the history of India and Punjab is full of examples of patriotism, sacrifice, service to humanity, hard work and honesty. Therefore, special efforts should be made to celebrate such historical days in schools and colleges and to make students aware of the lives of great personalities and connect them with humanitarian work.
He said that students stay in educational institutions for only about 150 days during the year. During this time, they should not only be taught the knowledge of textbooks, but also good morals, social responsibility and a sense of duty towards the country.
