Karnal, October 25 (Praveen Walia):- Under the guidance and directions of Karnal Superintendent of Police Karan Goyal, IPS, the district police are continuously taking action against those involved in criminal activities. As part of this drive, Sadar Karnal Police Station has arrested three accused in a case involving the theft and sale of rice worth lakhs of rupees from a rice mill.

The arrests were made by a team led by Sub-Inspector Jagmohan Singh under the supervision of Inspector Tarsem Singh, SHO of Sadar Karnal Police Station. The accused have been identified as Ajit, son of Rambir Singh, resident of Araipur village, Karnal district; Sushil, son of Kishori Lal, resident of Vikas Nagar, Karnal; and Ankush, son of Vedpal, resident of Chhapra Khera, Karnal district.

The investigating officer stated that Amit Dahiya, a resident of Karnal, had lodged a complaint at Sadar Karnal Police Station, stating that he owns a rice mill named Greenfield Pure India in the Mohdinpur village area. Basmati paddy is milled at the facility to produce rice, which is then transported by trucks to various customers.

According to the complainant, he had employed Sushil as an accountant at the mill for around four years and Ankush for around two years. Recently, he received information that larger quantities of rice were being loaded onto trucks at the mill, but smaller quantities were reaching customers. This led him to suspect both employees.

According to the complaint, during questioning, the two employees allegedly admitted to stealing rice in collusion with truck owner Ajit. They allegedly loaded extra bags of rice onto trucks, left the mill and unloaded some of the bags along the way before selling them to shopkeepers in areas including Taraori and Ambala. The complainant alleged that this activity had been going on for approximately one year and that rice worth lakhs of rupees had been stolen and sold during this period.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under the relevant sections at Sadar Karnal Police Station on October 24, 2026, and an investigation was initiated. Acting on the case, the Sadar Police team arrested all three accused.

The police produced all three accused before the competent court today. The court granted two days of police remand for Ajit and Sushil, while Ankush was sent to judicial custody at the district jail as per the court’s orders.

During the police remand, the two accused will be questioned in detail to establish further facts related to the case, recover the stolen rice and investigate the role of other persons who may be involved.
