Hoshiarpur/Daljit Ajnoha:- Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, is implementing the Rah-Veer Scheme to provide immediate assistance to people injured in road accidents and save their precious lives. The main objective of the scheme is to encourage the general public to help road accident victims so that the injured can receive timely medical assistance after an accident and their lives can be saved.

The Deputy Commissioner said that under the scheme, an eligible person who helps save the life of someone seriously injured in a road accident may receive a cash reward of ₹25,000 along with a certificate of appreciation. The award is granted subject to fulfilment of the eligibility conditions and rules prescribed under the scheme.

The general public has been urged to come forward without fear or hesitation to help an injured person if they witness a road accident. They should also immediately inform an ambulance service or other emergency services so that the injured person can be taken to a hospital as quickly as possible.

Prompt medical assistance during this period can reduce the risk of death. Therefore, the alertness and compassion shown by people at the time of an accident can play a crucial role in saving someone's life.

Under the applicable legal provisions, the rights of individuals who help road accident victims in good faith are protected. Provisions have also been made to safeguard them from unnecessary legal hassles so that people can assist those in need without any apprehension.
