Hoshiarpur, July 25: Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sud has termed the broad-daylight murder of Satpal Singh (Mintu)—an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sarpanch from Anandgarh village—as a matter of grave concern. He stated that the killing of a Sarpanch affiliated with the ruling party raises serious questions about the functioning of the Punjab government.
Tikshan Sud remarked that the fact that the killers launched a second attack after the initial murder, combined with the failure to arrest all the accused so far, makes the situation even more serious. He expressed surprise that opposition parties are raising the issue of the killers' arrest, given the speculation that those involved in the case might have links to the ruling party.
He noted that an atmosphere of fear prevails in the entire area following the murder, and people feel unsafe. He demanded an impartial and thorough investigation into the motives behind the killing, as well as the immediate arrest of the actual culprits and strict action against them.
The BJP leader stated that the failure to apprehend the killers so far is a blot on the government's reputation. He questioned how the safety of the general public could be expected when the government cannot even protect its own Sarpanch.
Other BJP leaders present on the occasion included former Mayor Shiv Sud, former District President Vijay Pathania, Archana Jain, Sukhveer Singh Nandan, Raj Kumar Raju, and Yashpal Sharma.
