Hoshiarpur: Today, Mahatmas, Sanyasis, and the saint community appealed to the public to participate in and support the rare 1101-Kundiya Rudra Maha Yagna, which will be held from February 19th to February 25th, 2026, at Shri Siddheshwar Shiv Temple, Bassi Ghulam Hussain, Hoshiarpur. They all visited the grand and massive structure being constructed with bamboo for the Yagna.
On this occasion, the convener of the Yagna and the spiritual head of Shri Siddheshwar Shiv Temple, Swami Udaygiri Ji Maharaj, who belongs to the Juna Akhara, said that Yagna is the foundation of Sanatan Dharma, and since Vedic times, our sages have understood the importance of Yagna and considered it essential for the welfare of humanity.
On this occasion, Swami Vishwanand Ji Saraswati, the spiritual head of Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar Mahadev pilgrimage site in Himachal Pradesh, explained that the Eastern Mimamsa school of philosophy clearly states that deities accept Havi (offerings) only through Agni, that is, through Havan (fire ritual). He said that protecting devotees from the looming clouds of war and natural calamities in the world and purifying the environment is possible through such Yagnas.
He said that his grandfather guru, Brahmaleen Swami Baudhanand Ji Maharaj, had organized a 1101-Kundiya Yagna in 1925 at Shri Kalinath pilgrimage site. The people of Hoshiarpur and the surrounding region are fortunate to have this divine opportunity to participate in and be patrons of such a Yagna after 101 years and earn merit.
Swami Ramsharananand Ji Maharaj said that the fire of the Yagna and the sound of the mantras permeate the universe, spreading positivity all around. Shri Mahant Pawandas Ji from Patti appealed to the society to contribute to the Yagna with their body, mind, and wealth.
Anurag Sood said that Brahmaleen Swami Basantgiri Ji Maharaj performed intense penance for 43 years at Shri Siddheshwar Temple, and before him, seven spiritual personalities had performed penance here for hundreds of years, whose samadhis (tombs) are present here. Dr. Harshvinder Singh Pathania said that those interested in participating in the Yagna or becoming a sponsor can register their names at the Shri Siddheshwar Shiva Temple. There is no fee to participate in the Yagna. Devotees can contribute according to their devotion.
On this occasion, Principal Aarti Sood Mehta, Yashodanandan Gupta, Advocate Lovekesh Ohri, Pankaj Sood, Devendra Singh Saini, senior Congress leader Thakur Narveer Singh Nandi, Seth Satpal Gupta, Praveen Saini, Manish Talwar, Mohit Plaha, and Thakur Narendra Singh Rajput also appealed to the community to participate in the Yagna.
