Una, October 31 – Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that it is crucial to ensure regular and transparent monitoring of de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in the district. He emphasized the need to develop a robust mechanism for this. The Deputy Commissioner stated that details of all individuals admitted to these centers and the staff working there should be available at the respective police stations, and that center management should ensure that any new admissions are immediately reported to the local police station.
He chaired a meeting of the District-Level Coordination Committee formed under the National Narco Coordination Portal (ANCORD) on Friday. Superintendent of Police Amit Yadav, all SDMs, and district police officers were present.
The Deputy Commissioner underlined the need for strict and standardized regulations for the establishment and operation of de-addiction and rehabilitation centers. He stated that the committee would write to the relevant officials to ensure more transparent, controlled, and effective operation of these centers.
Jatin Lal stated that a strategic approach and strong coordination are essential for drug prevention. He directed all subdivisional officers to ensure regular inspections of rehabilitation centers. He also called for surprise inspections of medical stores.
He directed the Education Department to organize drug prevention awareness activities in every school and submit a report at the next meeting.
He also directed authorized officers to ensure necessary challan action under the COTPA in cases of smoking in public places. He also directed that school managements should immediately take cognizance of any drug-related activity near educational institutions and inform the nearest police station.
Superintendent of Police Amit Yadav urged all departments, especially the Health and Education departments, to share information about drug-related activities so that strict action can be taken by reaching the supplier chain. He also detailed the steps taken towards making Una drug-free.
Additional Superintendents of Police Sanjeev Bhatia and Surendra Sharma, SDM Amb Sachin Sharma, SDM Una Abhishek Mittal, SDM Haroli Vishal Sharma, SDM Bangana Sonu Goyal, Joint Director of Municipal Council Una Manoj Kumar, and senior officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
