Hoshiarpur: In a press note issued by former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader, Mr. Tikshan Sood, the Central Government's move to provide ?1,20,000 per house to 30,000 families in Punjab whose homes were damaged by this year's devastating floods is highly commendable. He stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently distributed approval letters to 30,000 people under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) while promoting his campaign.
After receiving the approval letter, the first installment of ?70,000 will be released within 15 days. The second installment of ?40,000 will be released once the house is constructed to the plinth level, and the third installment of ?10,000 will be released upon completion of the roof. This has enabled thousands of people to rebuild their shelters.
This amount was released under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) for the construction of houses for poor and marginalized people. During the floods, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan, and other central teams visited Punjab, on their recommendation, the scope of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) was extended to include the construction of flood-damaged houses in Punjab.
The Union Ministers have fulfilled their announcements by sending funds for the construction of the houses mentioned above. Additionally, under another central government scheme, MNREGA, a provision has been made to provide ?31,000 for these houses and ?12,000 for toilets. These 30,000 houses will be built solely from central funds.
He said that the Chief Minister of Punjab and other leaders have been making numerous announcements, but none of the announcements have been implemented; instead, they are using central funds to gain praise for themselves. To hide his failure, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has always been blaming the Centre. The compensation for the crops of the farmers has also been given from the disaster relief amount of Rs 12000 crore of the Central Government.
