Una, January 16: Necessary steps are being taken to further strengthen and make the Safe School Program in emergency situations and disasters more effective under the School Safety Project (SSP). Additional Deputy Commissioner Una, Mahendra Pal Gurjar, said that the progress of school disaster management plans and related activities for the year 2025-26 was reviewed based on the data available in the online database as of December 31, 2025, and it was found that the work has not been completed to the expected level in Una district.
Taking this matter seriously, the ADC has issued clear instructions to the Deputy Directors of the Higher Education and Elementary Education departments to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the School Safety Project (SSP) guidelines in all schools under their respective jurisdictions.
He said that school disaster management plans not only ensure the safety of students and staff during emergencies but are also a crucial step towards making schools disaster-safe. Therefore, all concerned officers should complete this work on a priority basis.
Instructions have also been given that a detailed action report of the steps taken under the plan and a report on the current status of implementation must be submitted to the District Disaster Management Authority office by January 29, 2026.
He asked the concerned department to complete the necessary plans, drills, and awareness activities under the SSP in all schools expeditiously to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for children.
