Patiala (Manpreet Singh):- The Gas Agency Workers’ Union has rescheduled its protest outside the residence of Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, which was earlier scheduled for October 27, to October 29. The protest is part of the union’s ongoing struggle to secure the reinstatement of all 25 workers allegedly dismissed forcibly by the owner of Surindra Gas Service. The date was changed after the union learned that the Punjab Legislative Assembly session was underway and the minister would be occupied with it.

Union General Secretary Surjit Singh Suniyarheri said that the owner had illegally and forcibly dismissed the workers. He said the union was continuing its struggle to expose alleged large-scale irregularities at the gas agency.

Union President Baljinder Singh Lakkho Majra said that, a few days ago, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Patiala, had assigned the Food Supply Officer the responsibility of ensuring the reinstatement of the dismissed workers. However, even after the two-day period given by the Food Supply Officer to the organisation had passed, no solution had emerged. This has led to resentment among all the workers.

The union alleged that the administration and management were turning a blind eye to the issue. It warned that if the general public faced any inconvenience during the protest, the responsibility would lie with the administration and management.

Those present on the occasion included Vice President Satpal Singh, Kesar Singh, Finance Secretary Avtar Singh, Jaswinder Singh, the organisation’s patron and E.T.T. leader in Punjab, Shri Nath, Jarnail Singh, Dheeraj Kumar, Manjit Singh, Shamdar Mishra, Raghvir Singh Nabha, Jasvir Singh and others.
