Una, October 6:- The two lakh rupees assistance received by Jaswinder Singh of Una under the Chief Minister Sukh-Aashray Yojana has made it easier for him to become self-reliant. Twenty-three-year-old Jaswinder from Talai village in the Bangana area has started his own shop, ‘Johnny Electrical’, in Makraidh. After losing his parents at a young age, Jaswinder completed his ITI studies with the support of his uncle and aunt. Today, he earns Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month through his business and is also providing employment to three youths.

The Chief Minister Sukh-Aashray Yojana, launched on the initiative of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, provided Jaswinder with two lakh rupees in financial assistance for self-employment during the financial year 2025-26. This assistance helped him fulfil the dream he had nurtured since his ITI days.

Jaswinder lost his parents at the age of just 20 while pursuing his ITI studies. After this, his uncle and aunt took care of him. Despite the family’s limited financial condition, they supported the continuation of Jaswinder’s education and helped him complete his training in the electrician trade by bearing the remaining ITI fees and other expenses.

Jaswinder says that he had been interested in electrical work from the beginning. During and after his ITI training, he worked with local shopkeepers and gained practical experience in piping, wiring and other electrical works related to construction slabs. During this period, his desire to start his own business also grew stronger, but lack of capital remained a major obstacle.

Meanwhile, he came to know about the Chief Minister Sukh-Aashray Yojana through an Anganwadi worker. He applied at the office of the District Welfare Officer, Una. After completing the required process, he received financial assistance of two lakh rupees for self-employment. With this assistance, he started his shop, ‘Johnny Electrical’, in Makraidh.

Today, Jaswinder earns Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month through his business. Expanding his work, he has also started providing sound system facilities for wedding ceremonies and retirement functions.

After starting his business, Jaswinder also provided work opportunities to three youths at his shop. Along with working with him, these youths are also gaining practical experience in electrical work.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Jaswinder Singh says that the financial assistance received from the government in difficult circumstances became an important support for him. With the assistance provided under the scheme, he was able to start his shop and today he is meeting his family’s needs through his work.

It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister Sukh-Aashray Yojana is providing assistance to children and youth requiring special care and protection to help them move forward in the direction of education, skill development and self-reliance. Under the scheme, eligible children and youth are being provided financial assistance of Rs. 4,000 every month, in addition to financial assistance of two lakh rupees for starting self-employment.
