Ratia 17th November:- Khalsa Tri-Centenary Government Post Graduate College, Ratia organized a State Level Seminar on the Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The program was presided over by Dr. Mangal Singh, Retired Assistant Professor, while Professor Jagmohan Singh Virk, Government College, Bherian Kalan, Kurukshetra participated as the chief speaker.
In this seminar, Assistant Professor Rohit Kumar, Government Women’s College, Bhodia Khera, and Assistant Professor Jaspal Singh, Government College, Kalanwali presented research papers on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. At the beginning of the seminar, College Principal Dr. Sumitra Sangwan welcomed all the guests.
In his address, the chief speaker Professor Jagmohan Singh Virk said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was a combination of martyrdom, knowledge and work.
Tegh Bahadur's real name was Tyag Mall, but he showed his swordsmanship and skill in battle that the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind, gave him the title of Tegh Bahadur. Discussing his Bani, the chief speaker said that, besides being a warrior, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur was a lover of music and literature.
He composed Bani in 15 ragas, composed 57 slokas and 59 shabads. Guru Sahib was a deep thinker, psychoanalyst and social reformer. The essence of his Bani is humanitarian. He inspired people to believe in all humanity, gave them the message of avoiding self-obsession. He supported the liberation of body, mind and soul. He saw that due to Mughal slavery, the common people were not only physically but also mentally enslaved.
Fear had become so deep in their hearts and minds that they could not even think of rebellion. It was very difficult to convince them. In this environment, they worked to create a spirit of rebellion among the common people, opposing the tyrannical Mughal rule, which ended when they sacrificed themselves while smiling in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. The sacrifice energized the common people and instilled a spirit of revolution in them, shaking the foundations of the Mughal Empire.
Dr. Mangal Singh, who presided over the program, shed light on those aspects of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life that most people are unaware of. He told how Tegh Bahadur instilled a sense of devotion towards his community and country.
Prof. Rohit Kumar and Prof. Jaspal Singh shed light on various aspects of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life through their research papers. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Birbal Singh, Head of the Punjabi Department and Prof. Sarvjit Singh thanked all the guests who attended the event.
