Ratia, February 4: The 24th annual two-day sports competition was held at Khalsa Tricentenary Government College, Ratia. College Public Relations Officer, Prof. Kuldeep Singh, stated that the competition was organized under the chairmanship of the college's Principal, Dr. Sumitra Sangwan, and in coordination with Sports Incharge, Prof. Pawan Kumar. The 24th annual sports competition was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Surendra Jyani, Principal, Government Postgraduate College, Bhuna, by hoisting the flag.
Students from the college's Arts, Commerce, Science, MA Punjabi, MA English, and both NSS units participated in the march past and saluted the chief guest. In her address, College Principal Dr. Sumitra Sangwan stated that sports play an important role in our mental, physical, and social development. They help us stay healthy, develop our mental abilities, and provide an opportunity for teamwork.
It enhances the quality of our lives and gives us the ability to think positively, struggle, and win. In his address at the annual sports competition, Chief Guest Dr. Surendra Jyani stated that sports play an important role in our lives. "Don't consider sports merely a means of passing time, but rather, if you strive with dedication, honesty, and discipline, you will surely achieve success." He added that the government currently rewards athletes who perform well under various policies.
Sports provide us with physical strength. They foster a spirit of mutual cooperation, which helps us live a good social life. In the 400-meter women's race, Jeevanjot Kaur finished first, Jyoti second, and Praveen Kaur third. In the 1500-meter men's race, Mandeep Soni finished first, Mandeep Singh second, and Sonu third.
In the men's put-the-shot, Krishna finished first, Sarkar second, and Jaspreet third. In the women's shot put, Jyoti came first, Sunita second, and Praveen Kaur third. In the women's long jump, Jyoti came first, Praveen Kaur second, and Salina third. In the men's long jump, Sachin came first, Mandeep Soni second, and Krishna third.
In the men's high jump, Mandeep Singh came first, Satish second, and Sachin third. In the women's high jump, Jyoti came first, Sunita second, and Praveen Kaur third. Chief guest Dr. Surendra Jyani honored the winners of these competitions by presenting them with medals. Chief guest Dr. Surendra Jyani was honored with a memento by the college family.
