Una, May 18: With the objective of conducting the 2026 General Elections for Panchayati Raj Institutions in a free, fair, and peaceful manner, the second phase of the election rehearsal was organized today (Monday) at the Government Degree College, Una. The rehearsal program was presided over by Mr. Shravan Kumar, Assistant District Election Officer and District Panchayat Officer. A total of 728 officers and employees participated in this rehearsal, comprising 208 Presiding Officers and 520 Polling Officers.
During the event, officers and employees assigned to election duties were provided with detailed and practical information regarding the various stages of the polling process. Addressing the assembled staff, the District Panchayat Officer stated that elections constitute a fundamental pillar of the democratic system, and the role of every officer and employee deployed in the electoral process is of paramount importance. He urged all employees to take the information imparted during the training and rehearsal sessions with utmost seriousness and to ensure the discharge of their responsibilities with complete integrity, vigilance, and transparency.
He further informed that voting is scheduled to take place on May 26, 28, and 30. The polling process will be conducted from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During the rehearsal, detailed information was also provided regarding the procedures to be adopted at polling stations, the management of election materials, voting methods, and other essential guidelines.
Mr. Shravan Kumar announced that the third phase of the rehearsal would be held on May 24 at the Government Degree College, Una.
Present on this occasion were BDOs Ramanveer Chauhan, Deepak Joshi, and Vikas Saini, along with other officers and employees.
