Nawanshahr, 25 September:- The local Road Safety Awareness Society will continue to focus particularly on road safety awareness. In this regard, an awareness rally will be organised on September 30. This decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of President G.S. Toor.
Conducting the proceedings of the meeting, Secretary J.S. Gidda said that the generation studying in educational institutions today will become future drivers and passengers and will have to shoulder important responsibilities. Therefore, if a teacher or student delivers an awareness speech on this subject during the morning assembly in educational institutions, a better future can be prepared. The ongoing establishment of road safety clubs in every school and college will also be continued.
For immediate action on issues requiring attention on roads, a delegation of the Society will meet the Deputy Commissioner and District Education Officer with a written memorandum of demands.
Representatives of Bhagat Puran Singh Lok Sewa Trust, Barnala Kalan, and Major Mandeep Singh Welfare Society, Nawanshahr, who attended the meeting, assured full cooperation for road safety awareness.
