Santokhgarh/Una, April 17 (Rajveer Chopra):- An atmosphere of growing concern is prevailing among local residents in the Santokhgarh region regarding the increasing presence of migrant outsiders. Lucky Hira, a local social worker, stated that while there has been a significant surge in the number of outsiders in the area recently, adequate information regarding their residency status and movements remains unavailable.
Locals point out that while numerous outsiders are residing in the area, it remains unclear which landlords have rented out rooms or houses to them. Residents have expressed apprehension that if this situation is not addressed in a timely manner, the problem could escalate into a far more serious issue within the next 2 to 4 years.
Furthermore, local farmers are also facing difficulties at the weekly 'Kisan Mandi' (Farmers' Market) held every Wednesday in Santokhgarh. It is alleged that due to the overwhelming presence of outsiders and migrants in the market, local farmers are unable to secure sufficient space to sit and sell their produce.
In light of this situation, concerned citizens and social organizations have urged the administration to make police verification mandatory for all outsiders currently residing in the region. They believe that such a measure would bolster the area's security infrastructure and enable authorities to effectively address any potential threats in a timely fashion.
Local residents have appealed to the administration to take prompt and decisive action on this issue to ensure that Santokhgarh remains a safe and orderly community.
