Karnal, September 10:- The Municipal Corporation Karnal has put in all-out efforts to keep the city's sanitation system on track. Despite a section of sanitation workers remaining absent from duty, the Municipal Corporation administration and Sugam Swachhta Agency are continuously carrying out cleanliness drives in various areas of the city, major roads, markets and public places through available resources and staff. On Wednesday, Municipal Corporation teams lifted around 200 metric tonnes of garbage and waste from various locations. At the same time, door-to-door garbage collection in the city has also continued uninterrupted.
Municipal Commissioner Saloni Sharma said in clear terms that sanitation is an essential service linked to public health and no kind of disruption in it will be tolerated. The Municipal Corporation is making every effort to ensure that residents get a clean and healthy environment and that the sanitation system is not affected under any circumstances.
86 Employees Joined Duty After Notices.
The Municipal Commissioner said that, as per the directions issued by the government and the department, show-cause notices had been issued to the concerned sanitation inspectors, supervisors and sanitation workers, directing them to immediately return to their duties. Following this, a total of 86 employees, including 21 sanitation inspectors and supervisors and 65 sanitation workers, have joined their duties.
She said that employees who have not yet returned to duty should not come under any kind of pressure or fear and should fearlessly join their duties immediately. She made it clear that employees who remain continuously absent from duty or disobey departmental directions may face action as per rules.
Municipal Commissioner Strict on Complaints of Intimidating Employees.
The Municipal Commissioner said that information has been received that some union leaders are allegedly attempting to prevent sanitation workers from joining duty and are trying to intimidate them. Taking the matter seriously, she said that preventing any employee from performing their duty is completely improper and unacceptable.
She made it clear that if any union leader, sanitation worker, inspector, supervisor or any other person is found preventing a sanitation worker from joining duty, threatening them or putting any kind of pressure on them, strict legal and action as per rules will be taken against them.
No Compromise on City Sanitation.
She said that the Municipal Corporation administration is focused on restoring and maintaining the city's sanitation system in a normal and smooth manner. For this purpose, the Corporation's machinery, available resources and employees who have returned to duty are being effectively deployed for sanitation work. Areas where information about accumulated garbage is being received are being cleaned on priority. She said that the Municipal Corporation is making efforts to ensure that no garbage heap remains accumulated anywhere in the city for a long period. Along with this, directions have also been issued to continuously maintain the door-to-door garbage collection system.
‘Do Not Be Afraid, Return to Duty’ — Municipal Commissioner Appeals to Sanitation Workers
The Municipal Commissioner once again appealed to all sanitation workers not to come under the influence, pressure or fear created by anyone. She urged them to fearlessly return to their duties and contribute to maintaining the city's sanitation system. She said that keeping the city clean is not only the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation but the collective responsibility of all citizens. She also appealed to city residents not to throw garbage on roads and public places, to hand over waste only through the prescribed system and to cooperate in maintaining the Corporation's sanitation arrangements.
