Hoshiarpur:- Keeping the safety of workers in industrial units in mind, continuous First-Aid training is being provided. In this series, a three-day First Aid camp was organized for a batch of 30 workers at Quantum Papers Limited, Saila Khurd, from April 29 to May 1. During this camp, expert trainer Anu Sharma sensitized 30 industrial workers about the importance of first aid and provided practical training on various life-saving techniques.
The training covered managing sudden accidents occurring in the industrial sector, such as machinery injuries, electric shocks, heart attacks, respiratory distress, CPR, poisoning, burns, fracture treatment, choking management, bandaging, sprains/strains, rib fractures, and other emergency response techniques. Full training was provided on first aid for snake/scorpion/dog/honeybee bites, epilepsy seizures, drowning, suffocation, head injuries, heatstroke, dehydration, fever, etc., so that precious human lives can be saved from being lost.
The Secretary of the Red Cross, emphasizing the importance of this campaign, urged all industrial units and various departments of the district to note that such training sessions are mandatory under the Factories Act, 1948, especially for industries employing more than 150 workers. He stated that this training for industrial workers not only boosts their confidence but also creates a safe environment at the workplace. 
The Red Cross Society is currently working on a 'Mission Mode' to bring maximum industrial units of the district under this training umbrella and prepare every worker as a skilled first-aider. This training will serve as a strong safety shield during the critical time between an accident and reaching the hospital, helping to minimize the impact of any untoward incident in the future.
