Helping the Needy Is the Top Priority: Jatin Lal
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that despite limited income, the District Red Cross Society was continuously working for public welfare and helping those in need. The funds raised through the sale of lucky draw coupons had enabled the society to develop infrastructure worth approximately Rs. 3 crore. In addition, the society was supporting the higher education of 50 daughters from economically weaker families. These included daughters from extremely backward communities whose fathers had passed away or whose families had an annual income of less than Rs. 1 lakh.
He said the District Red Cross Society was also supporting the ‘Samarthya’ initiative, launched to keep young people away from drugs and engage them in positive activities. Under this initiative, facilities such as gyms and libraries had been developed. These libraries were providing better study facilities to students preparing for competitive examinations such as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). The Red Cross was also helping needy people from low-income groups pay their medical bills.
The Una District Office, Amb Tehsildar's Office, Mining Department, District Controller of Food and Civil Supplies Office, Deputy Director of Elementary Education Office, Gagret Block Development Office, Naib Tehsildar Dauladhar Office and Naib Tehsildar Gagret Office made significant contributions to the sale of lucky draw coupons. Balbir Kumar, Tripta Devi, Anuradha, Mandeep Joshi, Sanjeev Kumar and Shanti Devi from the Deputy Commissioner's Office also played an important role in this effort.
