Nawanshahr:- As per the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India, a meeting was held today at the District Administrative Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar under the chairmanship of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner S. Gulpreet Singh Aulakh with representatives of all recognized political parties regarding the rationalization of polling stations under Special Intensive Revision.
On this occasion, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner S. Gulpreet Singh Aulakh while addressing the representatives of political parties said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the process of rationalization of polling stations is going on with complete transparency and fairness. He gave detailed information to the representatives of political parties present in the meeting about the current status of polling stations in the district, number of voters and proposed arrangements regarding rationalization.
He said that under this process, the cut-off limit for each polling station has been fixed at 1,200 voters and during rationalization, it will be ensured that the number of voters at any polling station does not exceed 1200. He said that it will also be ensured that no voter has to travel more than 2 km to reach the polling station. He said that the objective of rationalization of polling stations is to provide convenient, accessible and better voting facilities to the voters. The District Election Officer appealed to the representatives of political parties that if they have any suggestions or objections regarding the rationalization of polling stations, they should submit them in writing within the time limit fixed by the Election Commission of India, so that they can be considered as per the rules.
