Nawanshahr:- Under the program series ‘Creation and Dialogue’ initiated by Punjab Kala Parishad, Chandigarh under the new creation of Punjab, a dialogue ceremony was organized with the famous Punjabi novelist Jasbir Mand at Doaba Arya Senior Secondary School, Rahon Road, Nawanshahr. The ceremony, organized in collaboration with Adara Parwaz, Nawanshahr, was presided over by guest novelist Jasbir Mand, Arya School Principal Rajinder Singh Gill, Jasbir Deep, Bhupinder Singh Malhi and story writer Ajmer Sidhu.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the coordinator of the program, Dr. J.B. Sekhon, said that the purpose of this ceremony organized by Punjab Kala Parishad is to create new possibilities of dialogue between the writer and the reader. Principal Rajinder Singh Gill shared the welcome words and appreciated this initiative of Kala Parishad. On this occasion, guest novelist Jasbir Mand shared his thoughts on the process of creating his novels.
Talking about his creative journey from his novel ‘Aur De Bij’ to ‘Churasi Lakh Yaadaan’, he said that nature, labor, agriculture and the changing picture of the village are often mentioned in his novels. He shared valuable thoughts on the events, characters, language style, etc. of the novel narrative related to the Santali and Punjab crises. The discussion was started by storyteller Ajmer Sidhu and critic Dr. Kewal Ram and shared their thoughts on Jasbir Mand’s novel art in the current state of Punjabi novels.
On this occasion, Bhupinder Singh Malli, Jasbir Deep, Didar Singh Shetra, Lecturer Balvir Singh, Prof. Iqbal Singh Cheema, Prof. Deepak Gunachour, Storyteller Joge Bhangal, Poet Kulwinder Kulla, Dr. Gurmeet Singh Sran asked serious questions about the philosophical tone, narrative structure, language style and the author's field of study in Jasbir Mand's novels, in response to which Jasbir Mand said that he has always stayed away from didactic writing and a good novel has multiple meanings instead of a single meaning.
He also shared his thoughts on the creation process of novels like Bol Mardana, Aankhti Pind Di Katha, Aankhti Baba etc. He said that writing a historical novel is not about writing history but about reaching the mindset of history. On this occasion, Jasbir Begampuri organized a book sale exhibition.
Literature lovers including Surmukh Singh, Ajay Kumar Chahramjara, Kuldeep Singh Jethumjara, Rupinder Singh Mahil, Advocate Paramjit Singh Khatra, Vasdev Pardesi, poet Makhan Bakhlaur, Amrik Singh Begampuri, Vijay Kumar, Rupinder Kaur Durgapur, Sandeep Nayyar, Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Rupinder Kaur Bakapur, Madam Riya, Madam Deepka etc. were present on the occasion.
