Chandigarh, October 14, 2026:- The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Sector 12, Chandigarh, organised a blood donation camp at Centenary Hall today in collaboration with the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the camp saw around 300 volunteers register, of whom approximately 240 donated blood. The donors included 11 women.

Organised under the message “Donate Blood, Save Lives”, the initiative aimed to encourage all eligible donors to participate in this noble life-saving cause. Donors had registered in advance through an online form. Those who had donated blood at the previous three consecutive camps organised by NSS, PEC, were honoured as “Star Donors” in recognition of their continued commitment.

The camp was organised under the guidance of NSS Programme Coordinator Prof. Sandeep Kaur and Co-coordinators Prof. Mayank Gupta, Prof. Ratan Lal and Prof. Mohit Kumar. Club Secretary Naveen Gill, Joint Secretary Sabrina and Assistant Secretary Aryan Goyal served as coordinators.

Dr. Nemi Chand Goliyaya, State Liaison Officer of NSS, Union Territory of Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He encouraged students to make voluntary blood donation a regular part of their lives. One unit of blood can help save the lives of up to four people. Blood is used in surgeries, the treatment of accidents and trauma, emergencies during childbirth, and the treatment of diseases such as thalassemia and cancer.

The NSS unit expressed its gratitude to the PGIMER team, college administration, faculty coordinators, donors and volunteers for their support in making the camp successful. Inspired by the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You”, the unit pledged to continue organising such public welfare initiatives for the benefit of society.
