Chandigarh, September 11, 2026:- Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) organized a street play on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day. The event was organized by the Student Counselling Cell (SCC), PEC, in collaboration with the Dramatics Club, PEC, and the Art and Photographic Club, PEC. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about suicide prevention, emotional well-being, and the importance of seeking timely psychological support.
Through an impactful and interactive street play, students effectively presented the importance of recognizing signs of emotional stress and mental distress, listening to someone with empathy, extending support to individuals going through difficult circumstances, and engaging in open conversations on mental health-related issues. The presentation also aimed to reduce the stigma and hesitation associated with mental health concerns and encourage people to seek professional help without hesitation.
The programme reinforced the message that suicide prevention is a collective responsibility and that timely support, empathetic communication, and meaningful conversations can make a significant difference in a person’s life. The initiative reflects PEC’s continued commitment to promoting mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and the overall well-being of students on campus.
