Through this helpline, legal guidance, information regarding government welfare schemes, counseling, grievance redressal and other necessary support services are provided to the elderly free of cost. The main objective of this toll-free service is to provide a safe, dignified and confident life to the elderly.
District Social Security Officer Navdeep Kaur, giving details of the main services available through the helpline, said that senior citizens can get information about old age pension, health insurance, old age homes, hospitals and other welfare services by calling this number.
Apart from this, free legal advice and guidance is provided in matters related to Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and property.
Counseling services are provided by expert counselors to senior citizens struggling with loneliness, anxiety or mental stress.
Similarly, destitute, street-dwelling or neglected and abused senior citizens are provided immediate relief and are taken to safe places or old age homes.
This helpline 14567 is completely toll-free and is available on all days of the week from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The district administration has appealed to the general public that if any elderly person around them is in trouble or needs any kind of assistance, they should immediately contact 14567 and get help.
