Chandigarh, January 7:- Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Mr. Ranbir Gangwa said that it is the priority of the government that the buildings and roads in the state should be of one-standard and the Public Works Department (PWD) should establish itself as a strong brand. For this, the officers of the department should work with a complete plan. The public should not face any kind of trouble, and work should also be done towards immediate resolution of their problems.
Cabinet Minister Mr. Ranbir Gangwa has given several instructions while leading the review meeting of the Public Works Department at Haryana Niwas on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed the progress of road-related works, white belt (road marking), proposed model roads and major projects related to buildings and roads under the years 2024-25 and 2025-26.
Action will be taken against those who delay - Gangwa
During the meeting, the officials informed the minister that the project is not being completed on time due to the same contractor taking multiple works at all places. On this, Minister Mr. Ranbir Gangwa directed to take action against the agency that could not complete the work even for 1 year. He directed to blacklist such agencies in Thanesar and Gurugram area.
The minister clarified that it is not wrong to take more tender work as per the rules, but all the work should be completed within the stipulated time. If any kind of delay or negligence is found, strict action will be taken against the concerned contractors. He said that why should the public have to bear the brunt of the contractor's delay. It should be ensured that if there is no technical difficulty, then the projects are completed on time.
Minister Shri Gangwa directed that financial closing should be ensured within three months of completion of any work, so that no agency faces any problem regarding payment. He said that delay in construction and repair works of roads is not acceptable and for this all the officers will have to do regular monitoring. He also directed that teams should be sent from the headquarters from time to time to check the quality of works and no compromise should be made on the quality. Special attention should be paid to tenders with high minus, to ensure repair of roads in bad condition till new roads are constructed and to regular monitoring of roads of previous DLP period was also given. It was informed in the meeting that there are 3040 km long roads in Haryana. Out of these, 16435 km roads are under the scope of DLP. The same 6019 km are outside the DLP. Minister Shri Ranbir Gangwa instructed the officials that the road which is in a dilapidated condition should be kept in good condition till it is built, that is, if patchwork is required, it should be done and if there are potholes, they should be filled. He said that the public should not face any kind of problem.
Minister Shri Ranbir Gangwa asked to check the complaints received on the Mari Sadak app daily and ensure their timely resolution. He clarified that the officials should monitor the app themselves and respond to the complaints within the stipulated time.
The meeting also emphasized on ensuring the presence of field workers, especially beldars, in the field. Instructions were given to take action against the employees who are absent from duty. Along with this, it was asked to update the report regularly according to the progress percentage of each work.
28 new road rollers to be provided
The officials said in the meeting that a patch van equipped with modern materials will soon be started in the state, on which the mechanical wing of the department is working. Currently, 28 new road rollers have been received by the department, while the delivery of the remaining 28 will be soon. Apart from this, the report of the activities of the electrical and horticulture wings was also presented before the minister.
The meeting also discussed the model roads to be built in each district. Officials said that the current status of 11 model roads was given. While roads have been identified to develop 23 more model roads in the state next year. Work will be done on these roads keeping in mind all the necessary aspects including traffic arrangements, lighting and drainage. Also, the headquarters team will keep a constant eye on all the ongoing projects and the officials will visit the spot from time to time and inspect.
