New Delhi: The central government has ordered a forensic audit of all records of Al Fallah University. The government has asked the ED and other financial investigation agencies to investigate the financial transactions of the Haryana-based institution. The decision in this regard was taken after a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The blast took place near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10, the ongoing investigation of which was reviewed by the center today.
The blast killed 13 people and injured many. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has suspended the membership of Al Fallah University after its names surfaced in the Red Fort blast case. A medical college professor and a cardiology student have been detained in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the Delhi bomb blast. Both of them were residents of Jammu and Kashmir. Investigators have said that the terrorists had planned to carry out more attacks in four cities across the country.
Intelligence agencies have unearthed a major terror plot linked to the deadly car blast near Delhi's Red Fort. According to sources, the suspects had planned to prepare around 32 vehicles laden with explosives to carry out simultaneous attacks at multiple locations. Investigators revealed that the suspects had already started modifying an i20 and an EcoSport for use in the planned blasts.
The agencies are now probing whether more vehicles were being prepared as part of a larger plot to carry out serial blasts. “We have found evidence that preparations were underway to fit explosives in 32 more vehicles after the i20 and EcoSport,” an intelligence official told ANI.
The sources said that the eight suspects were allegedly planning to carry out blasts at four locations, each pair of which was assigned a city as a target. Initial investigations have revealed that each team intended to carry multiple explosive devices for simultaneous attacks.
According to the report, an official claimed that the doctors arrested in connection with the ‘white-collar terror module’ had collected over Rs 26 lakh to procure the material used in the blast.
He said that the four suspects – Dr Muzammil Ganai, Dr Adil Ahmed Rather, Dr Shaheen Saeed and Dr Umar Nabi – had collected the cash, which was later handed over to Dr Umar for safekeeping and use. Dr Umar Nabi, who hailed from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir and was an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, was driving a Hyundai i20 car when the blast took place in the Red Fort area on Monday evening.
Investigators believe that the fund was linked to a larger terror conspiracy. Using the money collected, the group allegedly purchased around 26 quintals of NPK fertiliser worth Rs 3 lakh from suppliers in Gurugram, Nuh and nearby towns.
DNA testing of samples collected from the blast site near the Red Fort has revealed that Dr Umar Nabi was driving the car in which the blast took place on Monday evening. Police sources said that DNA samples of Umar's mother were collected on Tuesday and sent here for testing. They said that they were matched with human organs collected from the blast site. The source said that DNA results confirm that the car that exploded was driven by Umar. Umar was a key member of the 'white collar' terror module that was busted earlier this week. He is a resident of Koil village in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
