Chandigarh:- Two important books were launched to the public amidst thunderous applause during the grand literary felicitation function and poet's court organized by Vishwa Punjabi Prachar Sabha at Saini Bhawan Sector-24, Chandigarh. These included the Punjabi book 'Sneh Bhariyan Baal Kahay' edited by the president of the organization, Pr. Bahadur Singh Gosal and the work 'Kya Khoya Kya Paya' by the new Hindi writer, Shri Mati Manju Sharda.
The chief guest of the event was Dr. Manmohan Singh, while the special guest was Shri Krishan Kumar Tejpal and the presiding officer was renowned theatre and film actress Anita Shabdis. Gurdarshan Singh Mavi and Raj Kumar Sahowalia were also present in the presiding officer. The event began with Pr. Gosal's song "Kariye Pyaar Punjabi Taani, Ghar-Ghar Kar Prachar", which was rendered in a melodious voice by Jagtar Singh Jog.
Pr. Gosal welcomed the guests and gave detailed information about the books. After this, both the books were jointly launched and the authors were congratulated. Papers on the books were presented by Raj Kumar Sahowalia and Neelam Narang.
In the second phase, writer Gurdarshan Singh Mavi was honored with special honors. He was presented with a medal, shawl, gold medal, book set and a certificate of honor. Along with this, 15 writers associated with ‘Sneh Bhariyan Bal Kashiyal’ were also honored. The chief guest and other guests were also honored by the organization.
In the third phase, a grand poets’ court was held, in which poets from the tricity and other areas displayed their art. In his address, Dr. Manmohan Singh called the promotion of Punjabi language and culture the need of the hour, while Anita Shabdis talked about promoting Punjabi culture through theater. At the end of the event, General Secretary Avtar Singh Mehatpuri thanked everyone and appealed for cooperation for the spread of Punjabi.
