Chandigarh, December 19, 2025:- Punjab University, Chandigarh on Thursday honoured faculty members for 23 patents granted during the last year 2024-25 at a patent appreciation ceremony held on campus.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig, who was the chief guest, presented certificates of appreciation to the researchers and announced cash awards for the first five patents granted during the year. The ceremony was held at Seminar Hall, Guru Teg Bahadur Bhawan.
The event was jointly organised by the Centre for Industry-Institute Partnership Programme (CIIPP), IPR Cell, Panjab University, and DST-Technology Enabling Centre (TEC). The inventors of the first five patents granted during the financial year were given cash awards in recognition of their early achievements.
During the ceremony, twelve scientists from Panjab University made brief presentations on their patented technologies before students and industry representatives. Participants joined the program in both online and offline modes. The presentations aimed to encourage students to create startups based on university patents and promote technology commercialization through industry collaboration.
Shri Suyog Jain, Owner, Vardhman Chemtech, attended the program as a guest and shared insights on commercialization of academic patents. He spoke on industry expectations, scalability and market readiness of research-based innovations.
Dr. H.S. Cheema, Owner, Cheema Boilers, also attended the ceremony and expressed interest in exploring some of the university’s patents for potential industrial applications.
The cash awardees included Dr. Avneet Saini, Dr. Shweta Sharma, Dr. Prashant Jindal, Dr. Mamta Juneja, Dr. Neelima Dhingra, Dr. Monica, Prof. Om Prakash Katare, Dr. Rohit K. Sharma, Dr. Nishima Wangu, Prof. Neena Kapalash and Prof. Prince Sharma were present.
