Una, May 8: Under the General Elections-2026 for Panchayati Raj Institutions, a total of 1,963 candidates filed their nomination papers on the second day of the nomination process in Una district. These included candidates for 14 District Council seats, 184 Panchayat Samiti seats, 521 posts of *Pradhan* (Village Head), 382 posts of *Up-Pradhan* (Deputy Village Head), and 862 posts of Ward Member. This information was provided by the District Election Officer (Panchayat) and Deputy Commissioner, Jatin Lal.
He stated that within the Una sub-division, 487 candidates have filed their nomination papers for various posts. Among them, 3 candidates filed for the District Council, 35 for the Panchayat Samiti, 247 for the post of *Pradhan*, 113 for *Up-Pradhan*, and 89 for the post of Ward Member (*Ward Panch*).
Similarly, in Gagret, 354 candidates filed nominations, comprising 1 candidate for the District Council, 51 for the Panchayat Samiti, 66 for the post of *Pradhan*, 49 for *Up-Pradhan*, and 187 for Ward Member.
In the Amb sub-division, a total of 394 candidates filed their nomination papers. These include 2 candidates for the District Council, 42 for the Panchayat Samiti, 71 for the post of *Pradhan*, 71 for *Up-Pradhan*, and 208 for Ward Member.
Meanwhile, in the Haroli sub-division, 363 candidates filed nomination papers, including 4 for the District Council, 29 for the Panchayat Samiti, 78 for the post of *Pradhan*, 67 for *Up-Pradhan*, and 185 for Ward Member.
Furthermore, in the Bangana sub-division, a total of 365 candidates filed their nomination papers. These include 4 candidates for the District Council, 27 for the Panchayat Samiti, 59 for the post of *Pradhan*, 82 for *Up-Pradhan*, and 193 for Ward Member. Jatin Lal stated that, following this development, nomination papers may now also be filed before the concerned officials on May 11, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The scrutiny of nomination papers will commence on May 12 at 10:00 AM, while candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations on May 14 and 15. Immediately after the completion of the withdrawal process, election symbols will be allotted to the candidates, and the final list will be published.
