Karnal, August 23: An inauguration ceremony for the newly constructed first and second floors of the hostel at Ved Vidya Gurukulam, village Nalvi Khurd, was organized today. Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev attended the event as Chief Guests, while Indri MLA and Government Chief Whip Ramkumar Kashyap participated as the Senior Guest. They formally inaugurated and inspected the newly constructed hostel.
On the occasion, Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan said that wherever the task of nation-building through character building takes place, a strong foundation for nation-building is prepared from there. Gurukuls and educational institutions of this kind are playing an important role in connecting children with values, discipline, hard work and culture along with education. He said that youth are the foundation of the country's development, strength and social betterment. The more values-driven, hardworking and culturally connected the youth are, the better human beings they will become and the greater their contribution will be to the nation and society. It is extremely important for children to be physically and mentally strong and to possess good values.
He said that every citizen will have to contribute to the resolve of making the country a developed nation by 2047. Our culture is our root, and just as a tree with strong roots stands firmly, a society and nation connected with its culture also moves forward with strength. He said that it is essential to maintain environmental balance along with development. Every citizen should take a pledge to plant as many trees as possible and ensure a clean and safe environment for future generations.
He appealed to parents to make their homes a school of values and give them the form of a Gurukul. Parents are the greatest teachers of their children. He said that today mobile phones have become an important part of children's lives, but a mobile phone cannot provide values and proper guidance for life. It is essential to connect children with the experiences of elders, family values and the thoughts of great personalities.
**The Purpose of Education Is Not Merely to Provide Information but to Ensure the Holistic Development of Children: Ramdev
Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev said that the Bharatiya Shiksha Board has been recognized by the Government of India and is a recognized board equivalent to CBSE and other education boards. A student educated through this board can pursue further education at various universities and higher educational institutions in India and abroad. He said that the purpose of education is not merely to provide information but to ensure the holistic development of children. Along with knowledge, the curriculum focuses on developing thinking, experimentation, values and self-confidence among children. Today, there is a need to acquaint children with the Indian knowledge tradition, Vedic science, Vedic mathematics, and the country's glorious history and culture.
Swami Ramdev said that strengthening India's unity and social harmony is the responsibility of every citizen. There should be no feeling of discrimination or disrespect towards any section of society. A strong and developed India can be built only by taking all sections of society along. He said continuous efforts are being made to give India's culture, yoga, Ayurveda and Indian knowledge tradition recognition at the global level. He said that the Gurukul system is an important medium of the Indian education and values tradition and there is a need to expand it.

On the occasion, MLA and Government Chief Whip Ramkumar Kashyap said that the purpose of education should not merely be to secure a good job, but to make children good citizens and prepare them to contribute to nation-building. In today's time, it is extremely important to impart knowledge of values, moral principles and social responsibilities to children along with education. Institutions like Gurukuls are playing an important role in connecting children with Indian values and culture along with modern education.
He said that children can be made responsible citizens only by providing them education in morality, discipline and values. Children should be given such education that enables them to make proper use of technology and protect themselves from its harmful effects. He also emphasized environmental protection and said that every citizen should not only plant more trees but also ensure the care and protection of the plants after planting them. A clean and healthy environment is essential for future generations. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev have made significant contributions towards giving yoga global recognition. Today, yoga has become an identity of India and people in many countries around the world are adopting it.
**Swami Sampurnanand Announces Making Gurukulam a Major Centre in Haryana for the Bharatiya Shiksha Board
Programme organizer Swami Sampurnanand said that Ved Vidya Gurukulam will be developed as a major centre in Haryana for activities related to the Bharatiya Shiksha Board. The Gurukulam campus will help in taking forward the activities of the Bharatiya Shiksha Board in Haryana. He said that the objective of the Gurukulam is not merely to provide degrees to students, but to connect them with the Indian sage tradition, values, culture and knowledge and make them capable and responsible citizens. He expressed gratitude to all the saints, public representatives and members of society who have contributed to the development of the Gurukulam.
