Kathmandu:- A bus fell into the Trishuli canal near Gajuri in Dhading district of Nepal, killing 18 people. Police spokesman Bishnu Prasad Bhatta said that the bus was going from Pokhara to Kathmandu and fell into the canal on the Prithvi Highway at around 1:30 am. This place is located about 90 km west of Kathmandu.
So far, 17 bodies have been recovered from the accident site and 28 injured passengers have been safely evacuated from the bus. All these injured have been immediately admitted to different hospitals for treatment. Nepal Army and Police personnel had reached the spot at this time to expedite the relief operations.
A passenger from New Zealand is also among the dead. Along with this, two women from Japan and the Netherlands are also being reported among the injured. Although the exact cause of the accident is not yet known, the police suspect that the high speed of the bus could be the main reason for the accident.
