Garhshankar, May 29: During the counting of votes held today for the 13 wards of the local Municipal Council, for which polling took place on May 26, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates secured victory in 8 wards, while independent candidates won in 4 wards and a Congress party candidate won in one ward.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Additional District Election Officer, Nikas Kumar, while providing information about the election results, stated that from Ward No. 1, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Bimla Devi won by securing 350 votes, while independent candidate Vinod Kumar won from Ward No. 2 with 270 votes. Similarly, in Ward Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 6, Aam Aadmi Party candidates Jasveer Kaur, Prince, Neeraj Khanna, and Harpreet Singh won by securing 573, 299, 239, and 390 votes respectively. From Ward No. 7, Congress candidate Bhavna Kirpal won by securing 178 votes.
In Ward Nos. 8 and 9, Aam Aadmi Party candidates Somnath Bangar and Jaswinder Kaur won by securing 489 and 432 votes respectively. In Ward Nos. 10 and 11, independent candidates Vikrant Randev and Neeru Sharma were the winners with 399 and 492 votes respectively. In Ward No. 12, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Upkaran Singh Bangar won by securing 397 votes, while in Ward No. 13, independent candidate Parveen won by securing 212 votes.
