Ratia, November 7 (Advocate Gurpreet Singh Mander):- The monthly meeting of the Retired Employees Association Haryana, Block Nagpur, headquartered at Hadoli, was held under the chairmanship of Jagjit Singh Johal. The meeting was conducted by Block Secretary Raj Kumar Hadoli, while District President Bhola Singh Nagpur participated specially.
During the meeting, members appealed to all pensioners to ensure that they submit their life certificates before November 20 so that there is no inconvenience in the release of their pension for November. Retired employees who are facing difficulty in visiting the office due to health-related problems were advised to contact the Block President and Secretary so that arrangements could be made for submission of their life certificates.
The meeting also discussed in detail various issues and demands of retired employees, including the possibility of the Eighth Pay Commission submitting its report between December and March. During the discussion, five major demands were placed before the government, with a request for their early implementation.
The key demands of the association include a 5 per cent increase in pension on attaining the ages of 60, 65 and 75 years, respectively; payment of the pending 18-month arrears of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief withheld during the COVID-19 period; implementation of unconditional cashless medical facilities in private hospitals; a 50 per cent concession in fares for retired employees on bus, railway and air travel; and an increase in the existing monthly medical allowance from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,500.
Speakers at the meeting said that retired employees had devoted a significant part of their lives to government service and contributed to the development of society and the country. Therefore, it is the government's responsibility to ensure that they enjoy a dignified life in old age, along with better healthcare facilities and financial security. The government should seriously consider the legitimate demands of pensioners and implement them in a timely manner.
Association office-bearers warned that if the government ignored their demands, retired employees from across the state would participate in large numbers in the massive protest scheduled to be held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on December 12, 2026. They said that they would raise the voice of pensioners and convey their demands to the government. They also stated that the government might face political consequences in the upcoming elections.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all countrymen were extended heartfelt greetings on the occasion of Diwali, and a resolution was adopted to maintain mutual unity and strengthen the organisation.
