Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 30: Mohali Police has succeeded in arresting two accused who were absconding for 14 years and three years under the large-scale campaign being run by Mohali Police to arrest absconding criminals in various crimes and bring them to justice.
Giving more information, Saurav Jindal SP (Investigation) said that among these arrested accused, Daniel alias Danny son of Tara Chand resident of village Babbia Wal, Police Station Sadar Jalandhar, case number 66 dated 01.05.2008 under sections 279, 337, 338 IPC was wanted in Police Station Phase-8 Mohali, who was absconding for 14 years.
Similarly, the second accused Bhagwant Singh alias Kala son of Jagdev Singh resident of village Kalsa, police station Sadar Raikot, district Ludhiana, who was wanted in case no. 49, dated 03.03.2021, under sections 237, 337, 427 IPC, 61-01-14 Excise Act, police station Mataur Mohali for (43 boxes) 3,87,000 ml liquor, was absconding for the last 03 years.
He said that as per the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police District SAS Nagar Harmandeep Singh Hans, under the campaign launched against anti-social elements and criminals, a special task of arresting the fugitive criminals (POs) was given by forming a PO staff. He further said that Deputy Superintendent of Police (Special Crime), Naveenpal Singh Lehal has been entrusted with the supervision of this campaign.
According to the SP (Investigation), this campaign to catch these fugitive criminals will be continued in the future as well so that these criminals who are fleeing from the law can be punished according to the law.
