Una, September 9:- Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a leading state due to the visionary and welfare-oriented thinking of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, where an initiative is being undertaken to establish direct communication with BPL families, listen to their problems and resolve them. Through this campaign, the administration and the government are reaching out to the people themselves to ensure that no eligible family is deprived of the benefits of government schemes.
MLA Vivek Sharma said this today during public interaction programmes organised regarding BPL eligibility in seven panchayats of Una Development Block under the Kutlehar Assembly constituency, namely Takkah, Nari, Chalola, Dhamandri, Nangal Salangri, Dathwara and Jhamber, where he directly interacted with the people.
He said that the Chief Minister has always stated that the government has not come for the comforts of power but for transformation of the system. With this vision, efforts are being made to extend facilities to those people who have so far remained deprived of development and the benefits of government schemes.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is implementing several welfare schemes in the public interest. Under the government schemes, women belonging to BPL families will receive financial assistance of Rs. 1,500 every month from October 2, along with up to 300 units of free electricity, subsidised ration and other facilities. The benefits of these schemes are reaching the people of the state, particularly farmers and livestock rearers.
He said that the government has fixed the minimum support price of naturally grown wheat at Rs. 80, maize at Rs. 50 and raw turmeric at Rs. 150 per kilogram. This is providing economic benefits to many farmers of the state.
He said that to strengthen the livestock sector, the minimum support price of buffalo milk has been fixed at Rs. 71 and cow milk at Rs. 61 per litre. This has strengthened the economic condition of livestock rearers.
He said that under the same welfare-oriented vision of the Chief Minister, the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana has been launched.
He said that under the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana, the Himachal government is taking responsibility for around 6,000 destitute children. The government is helping these children with their education, accommodation and food, care, employment and needs such as housing.
Vivek Sharma said that efforts have been made during the last two years to accelerate development in the Kutlehar Assembly constituency. He said that around 300 kanals of land has been identified to promote industrial development in the area. Eighty new transformers have been installed to strengthen the electricity system. Besides, various development works are also being undertaken in the drinking water and road sectors.
He said that in the coming time, we will also raise a demand before the government to fix a minimum support price for potatoes and a potato processing unit will soon be established in Una.
During the programme, BDO Ramanveer Chauhan informed the people about various government schemes. He said that only those families who fulfil the rules and eligibility criteria prescribed by the government will be included in the BPL list. The last date for submitting applications for inclusion in the BPL list has been extended to September 20. He said that in the ninth and final phase also, families will be included in the BPL list on the basis of the prescribed eligibility criteria.
