Sangrur, August 29:- Under the ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ campaign being run by the Punjab government with the aim of making the cities of the state clean, beautiful and healthy, MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj from Sangrur actively participated in the special cleanliness drive run in Sangrur city today. She reviewed the cleanliness work from Khanda Chowk to Haripura to Punia Tower and herself participated in the cleanliness drive and motivated the people to keep their surroundings clean.
Talking to the media on this occasion, MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj said that due to the strike of sanitation workers during the past few days, people had to face difficulties due to garbage accumulation in many parts of Sangrur city. She said that Chief Minister Mr. Thanks to the efforts of Bhagwant Singh Mann and Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, a special campaign is being launched to restore the cleanliness arrangements in the city after the demands of the sanitation workers were resolved.
The MLA said that the aim of this campaign is not only to remove garbage from the roads and public places, but also to ensure better sanitation arrangements in the city permanently.
He said that the Municipal Council EO, councilors, sanitation workers and party workers are jointly participating in the cleanliness drive. He said that the piles of garbage accumulated in different parts of the city are being lifted on priority basis so that the common people do not have to face any kind of trouble.
Giving information about the sewage arrangements, MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj said that continuous work is also being done to solve the problem of blockage of sewer lines in Sangrur city. He said that after the tender of a company was cancelled, the Municipal Council has issued a new tender for cleaning a sewer line of about 17 km long.
He said that under this, the work of cleaning the sewer lines has been going on continuously for the last one and a half months and the sewage is being cleaned by installing machinery as per the requirement in different areas of the city.
The MLA said that along with big suction machines, small machines are also being used for cleaning the sewer. He said that to avoid affecting the traffic on the main roads of the city and to cause minimum inconvenience to the people, sewer cleaning work is being done after 10 pm in many places.
MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj appealed to the city residents that the role of every citizen along with government departments is also very important in making the city clean. He appealed to the people to throw the garbage of houses and shops at the designated places instead of throwing it here and there and to cooperate with the sanitation workers.
He said that if there is any problem related to cleanliness or sewage in any area, then people should immediately inform the MLA's office, the President of the Municipal Council or the Executive Officer (EO) so that the problem can be resolved immediately.
The MLA said that work is being done with full seriousness to solve the problems related to cleanliness and sewage and this campaign will be intensified in the coming days.
He expressed the hope that within the next one month, Sangrur city will be freed from garbage and sewage related problems to a large extent and the cleanliness arrangements will be further improved. He said that joint cooperation of government machinery, sanitation workers, local representatives and city residents is necessary to make 'Mission Clean Punjab' successful.
